Follow this simple recipe to make the classic French dessert, Clafoutis, featuring cherries baked in a custard-like batter.

Equipment

  • 1 Oven-proof skillet or baking dish Preferably round shape
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Cherries Pitted
  • 3/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Butter For greasing the dish
  • 1 tbsp Powdered sugar For dusting

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter your skillet or baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the flour, salt, and gradually pour in the milk while whisking. Mix in the vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
  • Distribute the pitted cherries evenly in the bottom of the greased dish.
  • Pour the batter over the cherries, ensuring they are covered.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a variation, you can use other fruits like blueberries, raspberries, or sliced apricots instead of cherries.
