Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet For cooking bacon and eggs
  • 1 Saucepan For preparing grits

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices Bacon Thick-cut preferred
  • 4 Eggs Large
  • 1 cup Grits Quick-cooking or stone-ground
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 cup Milk For creamier grits
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper Freshly ground

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In the same skillet with bacon drippings, cook the eggs to your preferred style (fried, scrambled, etc.). Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and stir in the grits. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, until thickened.
  • Add milk and butter to the grits, stirring until creamy and well-combined. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Serve the grits onto plates and top with cooked eggs and bacon. Enjoy your hearty breakfast!

Notes

For a variation, try adding cheese to the grits for an extra creamy and savory version.
