Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet For baking the empanadas
  • 1 Skillet For cooking the beef filling

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 cup Onion Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tsp Cumin Ground
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Butter Cold and cubed
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Cold water

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
  • In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Add cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
  • Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal the edges.
  • Place empanadas on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

You can add chopped potatoes or olives to the filling for extra flavor.
