  • 2 8-inch round cake pans Greased and floured
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Electric mixer Or a whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 1 and 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs At room temperature
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Milk At room temperature

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For more flavor, consider adding lemon zest to the batter or glaze with a simple icing of powdered sugar and milk.
