Egg and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Bites Recipe

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl For preparing the dough and filling
  • 1 Baking sheet For baking the pretzel bites
  • 1 Pan For scrambling the eggs
  • 1 Large Pot For boiling the pretzel bites

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 3/4 cup Warm water 110°F
  • 4 Eggs Lightly beaten
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese Cheddar or any preference
  • 2 tbsp Butter For scrambling eggs
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup Baking soda
  • 5 cups Water
  • 1 Egg yolk Beaten with 1 tbsp water
  • to taste Coarse salt

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  • Add warm water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add beaten eggs, salt, and pepper. Scramble until just set. Allow to cool slightly, then mix in shredded cheese.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each piece. Spoon a small amount of the egg and cheese mixture into the center of each dough piece and seal well, forming into a ball.
  • Bring water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot. Boil each pretzel bite for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  • Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg yolk mixture and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can use different types of cheese or add herbs to the egg mixture for extra flavor.
