Follow this recipe to make a classic Flan de Huevo, a traditional Spanish egg custard dessert with a rich caramel topping.

Equipment

  • 1 Oven For baking the flan
  • 1 Blender For mixing the ingredients
  • 1 Flan mold For shaping the flan
  • 1 Roasting pan For water bath

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1 can Condensed milk 14 ounces
  • 1 can Evaporated milk 12 ounces
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar until it is golden brown.
  • Carefully add water to the melted sugar and stir until smooth.
  • Quickly pour the caramel into the flan mold, ensuring the bottom is evenly coated.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a blender, combine eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the custard mixture into the caramel-coated flan mold.
  • Place the flan mold in a roasting pan and fill the pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the flan mold.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until the center is set.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
  • To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it, then invert onto a plate.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a few drops of almond extract to the custard mixture.
