Follow this recipe to prepare a classic Key Lime Pie, a popular dessert made with a tangy lime filling in a graham cracker crust, topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups Graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp Butter Melted
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
  • 1/2 cup Key lime juice Fresh or bottled
  • 1 tbsp Key lime zest
  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream Cold
  • 2 tbsp Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter until combined.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then let it cool.
  • In a bowl, whisk egg yolks until light in color.
  • Add sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and lime zest. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Pour the filling into the cooled crust.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until the filling is set.
  • Let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • In a cold bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Spread the whipped cream over the chilled pie.
  • Garnish with additional lime zest, if desired.
  • Cut into slices and serve chilled.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free graham crackers for the crust.
