Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet For cooking the potatoes
  • 1 Pot For boiling the potatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Baby potatoes Whole or halved
  • 1/3 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Mirin Japanese sweet rice wine
  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds For garnish
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Boil the baby potatoes in a pot of water until fork-tender. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, water, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the boiled potatoes to the skillet and coat them evenly with the soy glaze. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the potatoes are glazed and tender, remove from heat and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
  • Serve hot as a delicious side dish.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the soy glaze.
