Korean Egg Rice (Gyeran Bap) Recipe

Follow this simple recipe to make Gyeran Bap, a comforting Korean dish consisting of rice topped with a silky, lightly seasoned fried egg.

Equipment

  • 1 Frying pan For frying the egg
  • 1 Rice cooker or pot For cooking rice

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Cooked white rice Preferably short grain
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds For garnish
  • 1 tbsp Chopped green onions For garnish

Instructions
 

  • Place the cooked rice in a serving bowl.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a little oil.
  • Crack the egg into the pan, season with salt and pepper, and fry to your desired doneness.
  • Gently place the fried egg on top of the rice.
  • Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice and egg.
  • Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your Gyeran Bap.

Notes

You can adjust the amount of soy sauce and sesame oil according to your taste preferences. For a spicier version, add a drizzle of Korean spicy sauce (gochujang) or some chili flakes.
