Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan For cooking the pasta
  • 1 Whisk For stirring the cheese sauce
  • 1 Baking Dish For baking the mac & cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Elbow macaroni Uncooked
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Flour All-purpose
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk preferred
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese Shredded
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika Optional, for color

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually add the milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir until the cheese melts completely.
  • Combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce in a baking dish.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For added texture, top with breadcrumbs before baking.
