Equipment

  • 1 Oven-safe baking dish For baking the gratin
  • 1 Large pot For boiling potatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Potatoes Peeled and thinly sliced
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese Grated
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp Butter For greasing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Boil the sliced potatoes in salted water for about 10 minutes or until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Grease a baking dish with butter and arrange a layer of potatoes at the bottom.
  • Pour some egg mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a cheese layer on top.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and firm.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add some chopped herbs like parsley or thyme between the layers.
