Ingredients
  

  • 4 Egg yolks Fresh
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Marsala wine Sweet
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Optional

Instructions
 

  • Set up a double boiler with simmering water, ensuring the top bowl doesn't touch the water.
  • In the top bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth and pale.
  • Gradually whisk in the Marsala wine until well combined.
  • Place the bowl over the simmering water, and continuously whisk the mixture until it becomes thick and creamy, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract if using.
  • Serve warm or chilled with fresh berries or cookies.

Notes

Adjust the amount of sugar and wine to taste. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Marsala wine with fruit juice such as orange or grape.
