Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

If you’re craving a comforting and creamy side dish, Scalloped Potatoes are a classic choice. Layered with tender potato slices and a luscious cheesy sauce, this dish is a timeless favorite that’s perfect for any meal. Whether you’re preparing a family dinner or impressing guests at a holiday gathering, scalloped potatoes offer a delightful blend of flavors and textures.

Tips to Make the Scalloped Potatoes Recipe:

1. Choose the Right Potatoes: Use starchy potatoes like Russets or Yukon Golds for the best results. They hold their shape and create a creamy texture, making your scalloped potatoes irresistibly delicious.

2. Slice Potatoes Thinly and Evenly: For even cooking and a perfect consistency, slice the potatoes as thinly and uniformly as possible. A mandoline slicer can be a helpful tool for this task, saving you time and ensuring consistency.

3. Don’t Skip the Garlic: Adding minced garlic to the sauce enhances the flavor profile and adds a subtle aromatic note. Sauté the garlic in butter before adding milk or cream for a richer taste.

4. Use Fresh Grated Cheese: For the perfect cheesy finish, grate cheese from a block rather than using pre-shredded varieties. This ensures a smoother melt and avoids any additives that pre-packaged cheese may contain.

5. Let it Rest: Allow the scalloped potatoes to rest for at least 10 minutes before serving. This helps the layers set and makes it easier to slice and serve.
