Equipment

  • 1 Stand mixer For kneading the dough
  • 1 Loaf pan For baking

Ingredients
  

  • 3 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 4 large Eggs Room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Whole milk Room temperature
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter Room temperature, cut into pieces
  • 1 large Egg Beaten
  • 1 tbsp Water

Instructions
 

  • In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • Add eggs and milk, and mix on medium speed until the dough comes together.
  • Gradually add butter, one piece at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • Mix on medium-high speed for about 6-8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or individual rolls.
  • Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the top with egg wash, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let brioche cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an added touch, you can incorporate chocolate chips or dried fruits into the dough before the second rise.
