Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

Craving a warm and flaky treat? Buttermilk biscuits are a timeless favorite, perfect for pairing with breakfast or enjoying as a savory snack. With their golden crust and soft, buttery interior, these biscuits are the ultimate comfort food. Whether served with a dollop of jam or alongside your favorite gravy, buttermilk biscuits are quick and easy to make, bringing a touch of homemade goodness to any meal.

Tips to Make the Perfect Buttermilk Biscuits:

1. Keep Ingredients Cold: The secret to flakey layers in your biscuits is cold ingredients. Make sure your butter and buttermilk are well-chilled before mixing. Cold butter creates steam during baking, leading to airy, fluffy biscuits.

2. Don’t Overmix: When combining the ingredients, mix just until the dough comes together. Overmixing can lead to tough biscuits. Aim for a slightly crumbly dough that still holds its shape when pressed together.

3. Use a Sharp Cutter: When cutting out biscuits, use a sharp biscuit cutter or a glass with thin edges. Press straight down without twisting to ensure they rise evenly during baking.

4. Arrange Biscuits Close Together: Placing the biscuits close together on the baking sheet helps them rise upwards rather than spreading outwards. This technique encourages fluffy centers.

5. Brush with Buttermilk: For an extra golden finish, brush the tops with buttermilk before baking. This adds a delicious crust and enhances the overall flavor.
